We are pleased to announce that we have signed up The Woodsmiths Store as the main sponsor of the NCFed website. The Directors of NCFed were unanimous that the north east based company were a perfect match and completely in sympathy with the aims and objectives of NCFed. Look out for their advert in the ‘main sponsor’ banner at the bottom of each and every page – coming soon!
The company was formed about 8 years ago by Maurice Pyle who, following a career in environmental education, worked as a traditional woodland craftsman producing charcoal, firewood and other coppice products since 1995. He has been a teacher of traditional woodland craft for more than 20 years.
Maurice is a NCFed member, founding Trustee of the Bill Hogarth Memorial Apprenticeship Trust and a member of the Pole Lathe Turner’s Assoc and the Carpenter’s Fellowship.
Based on Maurice’s first-hand experience working in the woods, The Woodsmiths Store supplies specialist hand tools for coppicing and small scale forestry including Swedish axes from Gransfors Bruk and Wetterlings, billhooks and slashers from A Morris and Sons and is one of the few UK suppliers of professional quality charcoal kilns and smaller demonstration size kilns. More and more the company is commissioning unique products for the coppicing / woodcraft industry.
The Woodsmiths Store attends the following shows every year: Bodgers Ball, The Bushcraft Show, The Great Yorkshire Show, The APF Forest Machinery Exhibition and a few others.
